New River Valley, VA – Three projects in the New River Valley are among 19 initiatives recently awarded funding through the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) grant program. Announced by Governor Abigail Spanberger, the awards will bring nearly $1.4 million to the region as part of the $8.4 million distributed across Virginia during this round of ARC funding.
The projects supported in the New River Valley include:
- New River Valley Regional Commission: NRV Passenger Rail Station ($1,000,000)
- City of Radford: New River Crossing Economic Development Project ($255,568)
- New River Valley Regional Commission: Regional + Local Housing Study ($100,000)
These investments will support key priorities across the region, including transportation infrastructure, economic development, and housing planning. Together, the projects aim to enhance regional connectivity, strengthen community development efforts, and help position the New River Valley for long-term growth.
Established in 1965, the ARC is a “federal-state partnership that supports economic opportunity across 13 states. In Virginia, ARC investments strengthen business development, workforce training, infrastructure, cultural and natural assets, and community capacity building.”
