Giles County, VA – WDBJ 7 recently reported that Giles County will be receiving an expansion of broadband services through a grant provided by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). The $700,000 grant was awarded to Pembroke Telephone Cooperative and will provide high-speed internet to approximately 74 homes and 15 businesses.
The 110,880 feet of fiber is a continuation of the county’s initiative to expand internet accessibility to their residents and businesses. In 2024, Giles County received $5.5 million in funding to help get their community connected and improve rural broadband access in the county. The continued growth of Giles broadband will help empower residents with access to things like online education, telehealth, remote work, and countless other services.
