Montgomery County, VA – Community Housing Partners (CHP) recently broke ground on a new housing development in Blacksburg, Virginia. The first phase of the new Stroubles Ridge neighborhood will include 20 homes that will be built using modular construction, an off-site building method where large sections are prefabricated in a factory and then delivered to the site for final assembly.
Once completed, dozens of homes in the area will be part of the New River Home Trust (NRHT). Managed by CHP, the NRHT community land trust is designed to make homeownership affordable and accessible to families who struggle to find options in a competitive housing market. Through the program, homeowners purchase the home while the land it sits on remains with the trust.
Supported by multiple partner organizations and funding sources, Stroubles Ridge is hoping to make homeownership more attainable for residents who want to live in Virginia’s New River Valley. The development will consist of 45 residential lots that will be a mix of single-family homes and duplexes.
Community Housing Partners provides quality-built, responsibly managed, service-enriched homes for low-income individuals and families across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.
