VT Ranked Top Place to Work for Commuters Two Years in a Row
Montgomery County, VA – A recent press release published by Virginia Tech announced that the university has ranked high on the Bestplacestowork.org list of “top-notch commuter programs and services to students and employees” for the second year in a row.
The university has a bevy of in-house and partner-affiliated commuting resources aimed to reduce campus traffic congestion and offer environmentally friendly alternatives to single-vehicle commutes. Below are a few top-notch programs that again helped earn VT a spot on this year’s list.
- Bike Share Program – The ROAM NRV bike-share system features 75 e-bikes stationed at various regional hubs, including Virginia Tech.
- E-Scooters – A fleet of 200 scooters were deployed to campus locations during summer 2021.
- RIDE Solutions – Grant-funded program made possible through the partnership of agencies including the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (VDRPT), New River Valley Regional Commission, Roanoke-Valley Alleghany Regional Commission, Central Virginia Planning District Commission, and the West Piedmont Planning District Commission.
