GILES COUNTY, VA
Giles County, VA has a history rooted in traditional manufacturing, but it’s the majestic mountains and the New River that closely tie the residents to home. The County consists of five unique towns: Rich Creek, Pembroke, Narrows, Glen Lyn and Pearisburg. Together these five communities comprise “Virginia’s Mountain Playground.” Giles is filled with well-known hiking trails, (that often feature waterfall rewards) welcoming resorts, and outdoor outfitters to make your outdoor experience one-of-a-kind.

Dirty Dancing
Much of the cult classic Dirty Dancing was filmed in Giles County, VA at Mountain Lake Lodge, including famous scenes at Kellerman’s, the gazebo, and Baby’s cabin. The lodge offers unique lodging and tons of outdoor adventure activities like hiking and zip line tours.
EDUCATION
Giles County is the first NRV locality to participate in the “Access to Community College Education” initiative, which allows tuition-free education for 2 years at New River Community College. The Giles County Tech Center competes at SkillsUSA and HOSA, and the Land Lab provides students with hands-on agriculture education.
