Virginia Tech Partners with Pulaski County

New River Valley, VA – Virginia Tech located in Montgomery County recently reported that their students were working with Pulaski County to transform a former middle school into market-rate apartments in the community.

A group of Virginia Tech students from diverse academic backgrounds—including residential environments and design, property management, real estate, and interior design—are applying their knowledge in a residential design course within the Department of Apparel, Housing, and Resource Management. The students are taking a project-based learning approach to propose innovative housing solutions for the old Pulaski County Middle School.

Beyond providing valuable hands-on learning for students, this initiative underscores the commitment of Virginia Tech and Pulaski County to fostering innovative solutions that benefit the region. By bridging education and community development, this partnership highlights how collaboration strengthens the New River Valley, making it a model for community-driven progress.
